About Us
The Neighborhood Technology Resource Center (NTRC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission of creating public spaces where new technology can be experienced and serve as a catalyst for individual and community capacity development. The NTRC accomplishes this mission by creating programs in collaboration with residents that are practical, relevant and contribute to their digital proficiency. Our long-term vision is that local citizens, community organizations, churches and businesses will have access to and the necessary knowledge of digital technologies and its benefits for the purpose of individual and community development. Our programmatic focus has been to use digital technology to: (a) increase literacy and educational competency among youth, adults and organizations; (b) enhance training, employment goals and outcomes for long-term career development; and (c) bring local organizations and their services to scale.
Since our founding in 2000, the NTRC has already touched thousands of lives. With community technology centers (CTCs) in federally-assisted housing and a state of the art community center, the NTRC has worked to use technology as a catalyst for academic enrichment among youth that live in underserved communities, career building and advancement for at-risk, out of school youth and adults in both information technology and telecommunications careers, and provided a resource-rich space for local organizations, faith-based institutions and resident groups to expose their constituencies to new technologies and the Internet.
